WHAT YOUR CRAVINGS ARE TRYING TO TELL YOU

Decode what your body is asking for… without guilt or shame.

Cravings aren’t just about willpower. They’re your body’s way of communicating that something is out of balance nutritionally, emotionally, or hormonally. That sudden urge for chocolate, salty chips, or something crunchy isn’t random. It’s often a signal worth decoding.

By getting curious instead of judgmental, you can learn what your body might be asking for:

Sugar cravings

You might be riding a blood sugar rollercoaster. It maybe from skipping meals, relying on coffee, or eating too many simple carbs. Protein helps stabilise your energy and reduces the need for quick sugary fixes. Prioritise balanced meals and cut back on caffeine highs and crashes.

Salt cravings

This often points to mineral loss. If you’ve been sweating a lot, stressed, or drinking lots of plain water without electrolytes, your body may be asking for sodium or potassium. Consider adding a pinch of sea salt to your water or sipping coconut water with lime.

Carb cravings

Your body may be looking for quick fuel after undereating earlier in the day. It’s common when you’ve skipped breakfast or had too small of a lunch. Instead of fighting it, honour your hunger with a full, grounding meal.

Crunchy or emotional cravings

Sometimes, that craving isn’t physical… it’s emotional. Crunchy foods can feel relieving when we’re stressed, angry, or overstimulated. Instead of immediately reaching for a snack, ask yourself what’s going on internally. Are you needing a pause? Comfort? A sense of control?

Cravings Are Clues, Not Flaws

Understanding cravings allows you to respond with care, not restriction. It’s not about cutting everything out. It’s about tuning in.

Cravings are messengers, not mistakes. When you respond to them with curiosity and nourishment, your relationship with food softens and your body starts to feel heard.
